Fall Season: Nordonia Football Falls to Hudson team (14-17) Nordonia Football

The Nordonia Knights Varsity Football Team experienced a narrow defeat against the visiting Hudson Explorers, with a final score of 14-17 on Friday night at Boliantz Stadium. This loss dropped Nordonia’s season record to 6-2. Nordonia put up a strong fight against Hudson but couldn’t overcome a late field goal by the Explorers.

In the first quarter, the Nordonia Knights took an early lead with a 58-yard pass from Chesser to Petite (Rafferty kick). While the Knights kept pace with the Hudson Explorers throughout the second quarter, they were unable to score any additional points.

The Explorers tied the game at 7-7 in the third quarter with a touchdown via a Judy Fumble return for 56 yards (Masiella kick). The fourth quarter saw the Hudson Explorers take the lead after a 25-yard field goal by Brad Masiella (5 plays, 47 yards, 1:46). This put the game at 10-7.

However, Nordonia’s senior quarterback Ben Chesser connected with senior wide receiver Israel Petite for a 30-yard pass (Rafferty kick), giving Nordonia the lead once again. The Knights attempted a comeback, but their final drive ended with a turnover on downs after a Neher pass to Judy for 29 yards (a Masiella kick).

Congratulations were extended to Brendan Hermensky and Israel Petite for being selected as the Nordonia players of the game. Quarterback Ben Chesser completed the game with 217 yards and 2 TD passes, while wide receiver Israel Petite recorded 3 receptions for 93 yards and 2 TDs.

Nordonia’s defense also had standout performances, including junior defensive back Danny Ours, who intercepted a pass, and senior defensive back Vince Natali, who made 11 tackles.
