The Nordonia Knights Varsity Football Team delivered an impressive performance as they defeated the visiting Stow-Munroe Falls Bulldogs with a convincing score of 41-10 at Boliantz Stadium on a Friday night. This victory improved Nordonia’s season record to 7-2.
In this remarkable win, Junior quarterback Ben Chesser played a pivotal role by throwing for 268 yards and delivering three touchdowns on 14 of 26 passing attempts. Chesser’s expertise was evident as he connected with wide receiver Sam Collins for two touchdowns, including one from 27 yards in the first quarter. He also found running back Gino Perrine for a 4-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Additionally, Chesser contributed to the scoring by passing to wide receiver Danny Ours for a 39-yard touchdown in the second quarter, with Connell Rafferty securing the extra point.
Brendan Hermensky, the Knights’ linebacker, played a significant role by leading the team with 11 tackles. Furthermore, senior kicker Connell Rafferty added a 39-yard field goal in the third quarter, further cementing the Knights’ impressive performance.
On the other side, Stow-Munroe Falls, under the leadership of senior wide receiver Jacob Harrington, saw Harrington rush for 210 yards and score a touchdown. Chris Garcia made a notable contribution with a 10-yard run for a touchdown in the first quarter. The Bulldogs managed to secure their only other points with a 20-yard field goal from senior kicker Daylon Keeling in the fourth quarter.
The Knights showcased their dominance in total offense by outgaining the Bulldogs 488-250, including an impressive 315-210 advantage in passing yards. Nordonia’s solid defensive performance resulted in forcing three turnovers while they committed none. With this loss, Stow-Munroe Falls’ season record dropped to 1-8.
Special recognition was given to Isreal Petite, Danny Ours, and Ben Chesser for being selected as the Nordonia Players of the Game. The notable performances in various roles included Ben Chesser (quarterback), Gino Perrine (running back), Danny Ours (wide receivers), Brendan Hermensky (linebacker), and Owen Smotek (defensive back).
VARSITY UP NEXT: The Knights will be traveling to face Brecksville-Broadview High School on Friday, October 20. Game time is slated for 7:00 PM.
