Funding from Austin-Bailey Health and Wellness Foundation Supports Nutrition for Homebound Seniors

VANTAGE Aging receives a $20,000 Austin-Bailey Health and Wellness Foundation grant for Meals on Wheels program.

Akron, Ohio (April 11, 2023): VANTAGE Aging has received $20,000 in grants to serve more of Northeast Ohio’s most vulnerable population from Austin-Bailey Health and Wellness Foundation. Funds will be used to provide seniors with nutritious, home-delivered meals and wellness checks.

Funding was granted for VANTAGE’s Meals on Wheels of Northeast Ohio program, which provides a nutritious meal, companionship, and a watchful eye on the health and safety of seniors. Meals on Wheels provides home delivered meals, wellness checks, and free pet food to seniors living in Carroll, Holmes, Portage, Stark, Summit, Tuscarawas, and Wayne Counties.

In 2022, 324,662 meals were delivered to the homes of 2,573 seniors. Additionally, the organization’s 2022 Food Truck pilot project was launched in Wayne County, providing 1,510 meals to 179 individuals living in food deserts in Wayne County.

VANTAGE Aging offers a host of programs serving older adults across the state of Ohio, including: Workforce Solutions on-the-job training, AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program, Meals on Wheels, and Home Wellness Solutions.

The agency aims to promote a positive perspective on aging and continue to address the needs of older adults as Ohio’s senior population continues to grow.
