Ledgeview, Rushwood Return to Mask Mandate

From the Superintendent of Nordonia Hills City Schools,

Recently the Nordonia Hills City Schools Board of Education rescinded its universal mask mandate for students in grades K-12 and all visitors to our schools, upon the implementation of the new quarantine guidelines released by the Ohio Department of Health.

Since that time we have seen an uptick in the number of positive COVID cases in some of our schools. Recently, this trend has taken a turn for the worse at both Rushwood and Ledgeview, with both schools seeing five positive cases just today.

Our ultimate goal is to keep kids safe in school. To that end, I am reinstating the mask mandate for Ledgeview and Rushwood effective immediately. Hopefully, this additional layer of protection will prevent the spread of the disease and allow our students to keep learning at school. This reinstatement will be effective at least through Winter Break, at which time I will reassess. In addition, the Lee Eaton mask mandate has been extended through Winter Break.

Students in other buildings are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to wear masks to school, and students 5-years-old and older are encouraged to get vaccinated if they are medically able.

As always, thank you for your continued support of the Nordonia Schools, and Go Knights!

Sincerely,

Joe Clark, Ph.D.
