Macedonia Council Approves Safety Vehicle Financing

Macedonia Police will soon be patrolling city streets in10 new vehicles.

Council passed legislation at its October 27th meeting to finance the purchase of four Chevrolet Tahoes and six Dodge Durangos.

“We need cars like yesterday,” Macedonia Mayor Nick Molnar said at an August 24th Council meeting.

The vehicles, along with a Macedonia Fire Department rescue squad will be financed by a lease-purchase agreement with Huntington Public Capital for a five-year term at the fixed rate of 4.54 percent with payments to be made on an annual basis to total $975,000.

The city had been stymied on several occasions after ordering vehicles, due to supply chain issues which supplies blamed on the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Molnar, the Tahoes are being purchased from a dealership in Massachusetts and are ready for delivery to be outfitted.

The rescue squad was ordered last October, according to Fire Chief Brian Ripley.

The chassis for the rescue squad, as well as one for Northfield Center arrived in Columbus last month.

“We’ll probably be receiving the units in January,” Ripley added.
