Mock Trial Going To Columbus!

For the third time in nine years, Nordonia High School is sending a Mock Trial team to Columbus to compete at the state competition.

At the Regional competition at the Cuyahoga County Courthouse in downtown Cleveland on Friday, February 17th, Team CHECKMATE defeated St. Edward High School as well as Independence High School to win both trials, thus allowing them to advance to the State tournament to be held in Columbus on March 9-11. Winning Outstanding Attorney awards were Christian Chang and Olivia Tidmore, and winning Outstanding Witness awards were Kennedy Auman and Morgan Root.

After placing first at the District competition in January, Team LAWST CAUSE defeated St. Joseph Academy in their morning trial but then lost to another St. Edward High School team in the afternoon to end their season. Winning Outstanding Attorney awards were Jack Malloy and Keirstin Trehan, and winning an Outstanding Witness award was Wes Donnelly.

The teams are coached by Endre Szentkiralyi and Farhad Sethna.
