Nordonia students return to the classroom on Thursday, August 20, and two familiar faces will be waiting for them. Macedonia Police officers Amy Dailey and Andrew Moss are heading back to school as well, resuming their roles as School Resource Officers for the upcoming year.
A Presence Beyond Patrol
School Resource Officers, often called SROs, step away from regular patrol duties to work directly within the Nordonia Schools community. Their goal is to build a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff and families throughout the district. Officer Dailey is assigned to Ledgeview Elementary, where she works to build positive relationships with young learners while supporting safety and security on campus. Officer Moss will serve at Nordonia High School, working alongside students and staff to foster a supportive learning environment throughout the year.
More Than Security
SROs often become mentors and trusted resources for students, not just a security presence. Their consistent involvement helps students feel comfortable turning to them with questions or concerns. Their role also strengthens the relationship between the Macedonia Police Department and the broader Nordonia Schools community, creating connections that extend well beyond the school day.
Welcome back to students returning this month, and welcome back to Officers Dailey and Moss as they begin another year serving the district.
