NHS Boys Varsity Cross Country and Nordonia Middle School Varsity Both Take FIRST PLACE! -Check out XC stats!

NHS Boys Varsity Cross Country won first place at the 2022 Bruce Lerch XC Invitational on Saturday September 10, 2022, hosted at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School.  Special mention to 12th grader-Chris Turner who placed first overall, with a time of 16:55.1. Two runners were in the top three from Nordonia High School.  Third place runner was Nathan Gerhart, 12th grade, with 17:19.3.   (Photo credit: Jason Roberts) 165 runners were included in this high school varsity race, with eighteen total competing schools.

NHS Girls Varsity Cross Country team took fourth overall against the fourteen competing high school teams, and 118 runners in this division, at the Brecksville Invitational. Their overall time spread of 23:05.1.  9th grader- Emerson Beery came in third place, with a time of 21:25.7, and 6:55 pace.

Middle School Girls Varsity Won First Place at the Bruce Lerch Invitational in Brecksville. Five Nordonia girls placed in the top 20, shown in the photo wearing medals (see photo). The average time spread for the girls’ team was 13:21.2.   Stats were as follows:

Olivia May, 8th grade of Nordonia took first place with a time of 12:47.1 and a pace of 6:24.  Kaia Seredick, 7th grade, took second place with a time of 13:00.6, and 6:30 pace.  Sofia Bonnano, 8th grade, took fifth place with her timing and pace of 13:08.0, and 6:34.  Ella Bonnano, 8th grade, grabbed 14th place with 13:44.0 and 6:52.  Olivia Beery, 8th grade, came in with the 17th place with 14:05.9, and a pace of 7:03.  The race included 133 runners from fourteen area middle schools.

According to NMS Head Coach Krissy Dombroski, “All cross country kids are special.  They love the hard work and the great satisfaction that comes with the reward of the hard work…Personal best times, feeling strong in the race, and crossing the finish line after a grueling race. This group of 7th and 8th graders are special in that the combination of talents among these kids promises some really great times and some great victories, to be seen in the future!”

*Middle School runners complete a 2-mile race, whereas High School runners complete a 5K race, or 3.1 miles. Many of the courses are hilly and the runners run at several courses to condition for these races.  Top twenty runners were included in these stats.
