Last weekend the Nordonia Knights Ice Hockey team had two regular season games; the first being on Saturday and the other on Sunday. They ended up winning both games, resulting in high scoring games and adding on wins to their undefeated season.
The first game was against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin High School. The Knights started off strong and fast as they were able to put a few pucks in the net before NDCL could score their first goal. The Knights fought hard and came out with the same intensity in the beginning of each period, determined to leave the rink 2-0 for their season record. The team dog was given out to starting defenseman Josh Krysinski for his effort and determination during the game.
The next day Nordonia shut out Brush High School 10-0 in a game that ended a little over half way in the third period due to the mercy-rule. The Knights made it clear that although the opponents were not as skilled, they would still give it their all and keep the pace up to practice for the games that will be a little more intense and effort demanding. The team dog was given to Max Zuschin for his relentless effort and scoring ability that contributed two goals to the final score.
Overall the Knights were happy with leaving the weekend 3-0 in the season and are hoping to remain undefeated in their division.
Nordonia is looking forward to next weekend where they will go up against their rivals; Mayfield High School at 7:10 PM on their home ice at Gilmour Ice Arena.
The team has been working very hard in practice this week in anticipation of a tough, vigorous fight. Go Knights!
