2024 Is Here And The Nordonia Knights Are Looking To Keep Their Winning Season Strong

The 2024 year has begun and after a week break, the Ice Hockey Knights are ready to take on the ice once again.

Starting back on December 17, 2023, the Knights hosted Bay High School which is a Blue South Division game where the Knights won the game by a final score of 7-4.

In this game, Jacob Waite had a hat trick and Preston Kanar had 17 saves.

“They played as a team with low penalties”, says Head Coach Rich Cinalli. “This was an overall good team effort where the team played with control and protected the puck in our game against Bay”.

On December 20, 2023, the Knights travelled to Garfield to play Twinsburg High School which is another Blue South Division game. The Knights won this game by a final score of 5-0.

Preston Kanar had a shutout in this game and 13 saves, while Noah Vega also had a hat trick. The team had to make sure passes were correct and that the puck was controlled throughout the game.

On December 22, 2023, the Ice Hockey Knights rematched Twinsburg High School just after defeating them 5-0. This time around, the Knights won again but this time by a final score of 8-0.

With another shut out in this game, Preston Kanar now has back-to-back shut outs and back-to-back shut outs against Twinsburg.

Noah Vega had a hat trick in this game, and Jack Henderson had 4 goals. Henderson, being more of a defensive player, had a great scoring game in the second match-up against Twinsburg.

Patrick McNally, who is a third stringer, had two assists in this game and played really well according to Head Coach Rich Cinalli.

When the Knights were break during Christmas and New Years, the alumni game took place for any alumni of Nordonia High School.

Coach Cinalli set up the team as ‘Old guys vs New guys’. The Old guys lost to the New guys by a final score of 4-3 in overtime.

The Knights first game back from break, was Friday January 5, 2023, where the Knights took on Brooklyn High School and defeated them by a final score of 10-0, continuing the Knights winning streak.

The Knights now currently sit at an overall record of (9-3-1-1) and second place in the Blue South Division.

The team is coming together and having trust within themselves as they continue to prepare for their next game on Tuesday, January 9, 2023, against Normandy High School starting at 6:45p.m.
