“The enchanting modern classic from Disney is ready for your Broadway Junior stars! Frozen JR. is based on the 2018 Broadway musical, and brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life, onstage. The show features all of the memorable songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus five new songs written for the Broadway production.

A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Frozen JR. expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa. When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood. With a cast of beloved characters and loaded with magic, adventure, and plenty of humor, Frozen JR. is sure to thaw even the coldest heart!”

The Nordonia Middle School Students auditioned for the production in October 2023. They had to prepare a song and scene from the show and audition in groups in order to be considered for their parts in Frozen Jr.

The Frozen JR. production is directed by Kathleen Pellington; The NMS choir director since 2018. Ryan Hutcherson; orchestration director, and Gillian Moorhead; teacher aid and asst director also are heavily involved in the drama production, its organization, development and assistance to Ms. Pellington, as well as the students.

When asked about which songs the group will sing at the Frozen JR. performance, Ms. Pellington lists the following as some of her favorites:  First Time in Forever, Love Is An Open Door, In Summer, Let It Go, Fixer Upper. Songs from the Broadway musical include Dangerous to Dream and Hygge.

“I have always wanted to offer students the opportunity to perform in Frozen Jr. It is a fantastic show with an excellent message and wonderfully recognizable songs. It is the perfect show for middle school drama club– especially for a January performance!”, Ms. Pellington shares.
