Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights fell 5-3 to Mayfield on Wednesday despite out-hitting them nine to eight. Ritchie led Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights with three hits.
Mayfield opened the scoring in the second after Arth singled, scoring one run.
Henderson singled to center field, which helped Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights tie the game at one in the top of the third.
In the bottom of the third inning, Mayfield went back into the lead after Mikesell doubled down the left field line, and Sills singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
Seitz earned the win for Mayfield. The hurler allowed nine hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking one. Shirey took the loss for Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights. The pitcher went six innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on eight hits, striking out one and walking three.
Henderson went 2-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights turned two double plays in the game.
Leadoff hitter Pinzone led Mayfield with three hits in four at bats. Mikesell went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Tirabassi collected two hits for Mayfield in three at bats. Mayfield turned one double play in the game. Mayfield were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Tirabassi had the most chances in the field with five.
Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights play at home on Thursday against Firestone Varsity Falcons in their next game.
