Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights won big over Solon 14-4 on Monday.
Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after an error scored one run, Haydn Paul doubled, scoring two runs, and Hailey Yurmanovich tripled, scoring one run.
Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Laura Garey tripled to right field, Garey scored after tagging up, and Paul doubled to center field, each scoring one run.
Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning. Madison Hetrick singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Larken Koran singled, scoring two runs, and Brooke Becker singled, scoring one run.
Kirra Smeal earned the win for Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights. The right-handed pitcher gave up seven hits and four runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking five. Kassidy Samuelraj took the loss for Solon. The hurler went two innings, surrendering 10 runs (five earned) on seven hits, striking out none and walking three.
Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights amassed 13 hits in the game. Paul, Koran, Hetrick, Yurmanovich, Becker, and Morgan Ritchie each collected two hits for Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights. Paul and Koran each drove in three runs for Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights. Garey stole two bases. Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights stole five bases in the game. Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights turned one double play in the game.
Mary Chesla went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Alyssa Gerome and Chesla each collected two hits for Solon. Kendelle Lyndon paced Solon with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up five walks for the game.
