Northfield Boy Scout Raises Funds to Restore Palmer House Museum Sign

Northfield Boy Scout Ryan Toth is selling gourmet nuts and snacks this fall to fund his Eagle Scout project at the Palmer House Museum.

Ryan is a member of Troop 882, sponsored by VFW Post 6768 in Northfield. He is working toward the rank of Eagle Scout, and his community improvement project will focus on the museum property. The plan calls for removing the current worn sign and replacing it with a new one. A planter box featuring plants native to the area will be added alongside it.

Project Aims to Preserve Historic Character

Organizers say the updated sign will make the museum easier to spot for visitors passing through Northfield. It will also add to the appearance of the property without changing its historic look. Ryan is handling the design work himself. He is also managing material orders and overseeing construction of the project.

Eagle Scout candidates must plan and lead a service project that benefits their community. The Palmer House Museum sign replacement fulfills that requirement while giving Ryan hands on experience in project management.

How to Order and Support the Fundraiser

Ryan is taking part in the Peterson Gourmet Nuts and Snacks Fall Fundraiser to cover material costs for the project. Orders can be placed through a Google form linked on the Palmer House Museum Facebook page. The order window runs now through September 18.

Buyers can expect delivery the week of September 28. Ryan will personally deliver orders within 20 miles of Northfield. Payment is due at delivery and can be made by cash, check written to Boy Scout Troop 882, or Venmo.

Community members who want to help but do not need snacks can also make a monetary or material donation toward the project.

Scouting youth protection policies do not allow Ryan to be contacted directly. Questions or concerns about the fundraiser or the project should go to his father, Kevin Toth. He can be reached at 216.538.2239 or by email at KevinTothPE@gmail.com.
