Northfield Center TrusteesĀ are looking at bids submitted for landscaping services in the township, considering possible participation in a paving program this year, and retaining an architectural firm to consult with on the townshipās safety facility project.
At a special meeting March 15, the trustees first opened six bids received for mowing and landscaping work in the township, announcing they would more closely review them for a future decision.
The bids were submitted by Woodside Landscape, of Northfield; Garden Center, of Northfield; Wolfscape Inc., of Northfield Center; Reynolds Property Management, of Twinsburg; Sharpscape Solutions, of Macedonia; and Esk Landscaping LLC, of Strongsville, with the bids averaging a little more than $20,000.
At the meeting, the trustees then adopted a resolution to participate in Summit Countyās 2021 Road Paving Program as an alternate, only if the Ohio Public Works Commissionās Grant for the Bayberry Drive project is not awarded to the township this year.
If Northfield Center does participate in Summit Countyās program, the township would chip and seal, level, and fog seal Beacon Hill Boulevard for $27,000; Pickwick Drive for $21,000; Kenwick Drive for $20,000; and Dorwick Drive for $17,000. They also would asphalt Rolling Brooke Way for $30,000. The total cost of the program would be $115,200.
Earlier this month, the trustees selected Infinity Construction Co, of Warrensville Heights, for the official design of the building, which will house the fire department, police operations and township administration offices. The Infinity contract, in the amount of $46,400, covers the engineered schematic design phase of the project proposed for township property off Olde 8 Road.
At the close of the meeting, an executive session was held to continue discussing proposed personnel changes for the Service Department, following the March 1 passing of Service Director and Road Foreman Rick Youel, who unexpectedly passed away due to natural causes on Feb. 8.
Earlier this month, the trustees began considering naming department employee Frank Buehner the department manager/supervisor and promoting department employee Mark Frank to the position of service department foreman.
