In the Village of Northfield, police responded to several incidents during the first week of April, including a drunk driving arrest, a harassment complaint, and a missing juvenile who later returned home.

DUI Arrest

On April 3 at approximately 12:15 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a white Honda near Northfield Road and Magnolia Avenue for expired plates. During the interaction, the officer detected “the odor of alcohol” and observed “other signs of impairment,” according to the police report. Field sobriety tests were conducted, and the driver submitted to a breath sample with results measuring .182, more than twice the legal limit. The driver was cited for Operating a Vehicle Under Influence (OVI), Prohibited Blood Alcohol Content, and Expired Plates before being released to a sober person.

Harassment Case

Officers responded to 143 Summit Avenue on April 4 at 11:40 a.m. after receiving reports that a resident’s daughter was being harassed. Upon arrival, officers advised the homeowner to file a formal report with Macedonia Police Department. Northfield police stated they “will attempt to contact the suspect to advise to stop communication with the home owner’s daughter.”

Juvenile Matter

On April 6 at 2:52 a.m., Northfield police officers responded to 9035 Roosevelt Avenue regarding a missing juvenile. The complainant reported their son had left the home after falling asleep. Officers conducted a thorough investigation, speaking with “multiple individuals and locations on the whereabouts” of the boy. After all avenues were exhausted, the juvenile male returned home on his own. According to the report, the juvenile will be charged with a Curfew Violation.
