- NVFD ended 2021 with 1015 Incidents (85% EMS 15% Fire, 29% INCREASE over 2020. Busiest year ever at NVFD).
- Call Statistics – As of May 23, 2022 NVFD responded to a total of 362 incidents in 2022 +1% under last year at this time). Of NVFD’s total responses, 307 (85%) of those incidents were EMS related and 55 (15%) incidents were FIRE related.
- Mutual Aid Report – In 2022, NVFD provided mutual aid for 34 incidents, provided automatic aid 10 times, and received mutual aid for 8 incidents and automatic aid for 0 Incidents. (Total MA received in 2013 = 13, 2014=15, 2015=22, 2016=28, 2017=26, 2018=29, 2019=26, 2020=23, 2021=44)
- NVFD’s Average Response Time from time of call till time on scene is 3:57 for EMS Calls and 5:27 for Fire Calls
- MGM & NVRC Stats – NVFD responded to 54 medical / 3 fire incidents at MGM/NPRT (Up 30% vs 2021) and 27 medical / 0 fire incidents at NVRC (Up 29% vs 2021) in 2022.

Department News / Upcoming EventsFire Station Remodel – On hold for now. Project is shovel ready with plans already under review at Summit County. Construction documents are in my office if anyone wants to review them. Any updates in the project will be updated as they become available. To continue project an updated cost estimate would be needed from Baker, Bednar and Snyder. Once the new fire engine arrives, we will need to park one of the bigger ambulances outside until the apparatus bay expansion is complete.
Ohio American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) First Responder Wellness, Recruitment, Retention & Resiliency Grant – NVFD applied for a Retention Grant for all employees at the fire station through this grant process. If awarded, all staff would receive a 10% bonus for all hours worked between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023. The total amount request is about $80,000. The grant period closes June 17trh and awards are expected in early July, 2022.
Fire Engine 3513 Replacement – Fire Engine is complete. Attached to this email is the most recent progress report for the fire engine. Our firefighters will be travelling to Pierce June 1 – 3 for final fire truck inspection. We would expect delivery a week or two after that. Our goal is to have the truck in service by July 1, 2022.
Hiring of Fulltime Firefighters – Tonight we are swearing in three new fulltime firefighters. Their start date for full time shifts will be June 5th, 2022.
- Christian Bobak – Christian was hired in 2020. He is an Eagle Scout and has brought that mentality to the fire service. He can always be counted on to help his fellow firefighter. He is eager to learn and do is best to serve the community.
- Lt. Paul Wojtkiewicz – Paul has been a member of NVFD since 2010 and is currently our EMS Lieutenant. Paul has worked for the past 10 years for Cleveland EMS in a fulltime capacity. Paul is excited to start in a full time capacity in Northfield and bring all the skills he has learned in Cleveland to Northfield to benefit our residents.
- Sean Davis – Sean joined NVFD in 2019. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the table. He has served as the fire marshal in South Russell and Director of Public Safety Education at Auburn Career Center. Sean has a Masters in Adult Education and carries all Ohio Division of Public Safety Education certifications that are available. He looks forward to using all his skills and knowledge to improve the already great services we offer the Village.
