Obituary: John “Sus” Thomas Susa, Sr.

John “Sus” Thomas Susa, Sr. of Northfield, Ohio, passed away on February 22, 2022 at the age of 91.  John is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years,  Eleanor (nee Nitch), his son John Jr., wife Joni and sons Luke and Brady;  son Joseph, wife Lisa and daughters Nicole and Natalie, sister Bette (Rudy), and many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his brothers  Mike (Martha), Edward (Betty), William (Sylvia), and sisters Pauline (Mike), and Kathryn (Tom). John was born to parents  John and Anna of Uniontown, PA on December 27, 1930.  He graduated from South Union High School and worked on the railroad before entering the United States Air Force Reserve where he trained Weapons and Tactics.  He went on to attend Fenn College of Engineering School in Cleveland, Ohio.  John married his true love Eleanor on June 15, 1968.  John was hired by Hedalloy Die Corp in May of 1960 where he worked as an engineer until he purchased the business and brought on his sons to work alongside him.  Sus loved his family time, and especially the holidays, spending time with his golf buddies and hitting up the 19th hole with his lifelong friends.  He was an active member of St. Barnabas Church where he volunteered his time.  He loved attending and coaching his boys in sports and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events to cheer them on.  Sus loved watching the Steeler games and socializing with his buddies at the local Marc’s and Pat Dee’s.  At the end of the day, John’s most favorite thing in the world was going home to hold hands with his beloved wife Eleanor.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in John’s name to St. Barnabas Catholic Church, http://stbarnabasfamily.org/donate/Friends may call at the FERFOLIA FUNERAL HOME, 356 WEST AURORA RD (OH RT 82), SAGAMORE HILLS FOR VISITATION SUNDAY FROM 2-5 PM. OUT OF RESPECT FOR ONE ANOTHER MASKS WILL BE WORN. Funeral 11 AM at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate John’s life 11:30 AM at St. Barnabas Catholic Church. Interment All Saints Cemetery
