Obituary: Josephine Ann Marie Eckerfield Brown

Memorial for Josephine Ann Marie Eckerfield Brown

Josephine Ann Brown, 75, passed away Monday February 22, 2021. Complications from triple bypass surgery and years of dialysis, finally took their toll and the Lord called her home.

Born Josephine Ann Eckerfield, to the late Leo Eckerfield & Stefania, (nee Bistak) in August 1945, the middle of five sisters; Barbara Schwin, Leona Tressa(d.), Fran Mudra, & Georgene Feeman.

She accepted Christ early in life and was originally called to a servants path, leaving for the Convent at 15, only to return to be near her ailing father.  Before Graduating 1961 from Valley Forge, she met Robert W Brown, and married in 1965. They raised 3 children, Valerie (Romance) Cingel (Tim), Gary Brown (Brenda) & Jaime (Daniel).

Everyone knows she lived for her Grandchildren. Jacob Romance, born in 90, Valerie’s 1st, enjoyed weekends, trips, cousin sleep-overs and was the subject of miles of VHS tapes. In 1998 and for 4yrs she was in Heaven, no pun intended, Joshua, then Jessyp, who’s Hawaiian address didn’t prevent her from taking many trips to bond and make all those sweet cheek to shoulder photos possible.  Jaret in 2000 and then the twins, Aidan & Brayden.  She was happy especially when Gary and Brenda returned state side, making travel to see them easier, which my parents did, as often as they could.

Luckily, even as they all grew, Jacob with Their cousins Heather and Brittany, and later Josh & Jaret, and even more cousins, all spent countless nights swimming in the hot tub, going on farm tours, trips to hobby store, Luna’s & Pizza dinners out, created all the memories they have to cherish.

As the boys were getting older, and there were still band concerts and scout awards, but conveniently Jaime gave her Mazie Blake, Mylie Jade & Ruby Louise! Really the reason she even started dialysis. These girls gave her the reason she needed along with with “all my Boys” she’d say, to start the daunting routine, early morning schedule and a downhill toll that without all of us and my father, the saint, wouldn’t have lasted 5 yrs.

All these people wouldn’t have been here to tell this story, to cry that she’s gone or to have even made these memories in the first place, if not for a remarkable 55 year marriage to my Dad.  Although they had their own “love” language, his devotion to her, and vice versa, speaks volumes to the relationship they had.  In the end she still knew he’d be ok, because she knew how he took care of her.

She loved Camping with Snoopy campers, Volunteering for over a decade with the Girl Scouts, she ran the cookie cupboard year after year. Playing cards with Nordonia Hills Card Lady’s occupied many afternoons and she made great friendships. Before dialysis made it impossible, they went from the East Coast to The Grand Canyon on the “best bus trips” with Steve & Nancy Cingel, not just in laws, but their friends. Mom’s Memorial will be held late Memorial Day. Please contact Valerie Cingel or Jaime Brown Warren on Facebook Messenger for more information.
