Obituary: Marjorie A. “Margie” Bolocanoff

Marjorie A. “Margie” Bolocanoff, Age 92. The loved and nurtured daughter of Martin and Sue (Pillar) Bendick, Margie was born July 7, 1928 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and died on January 5, 2021 in Wickliffe, Ohio.  Margie was a graduate of Notre Dame High School where she developed life-long friendships and a joy of dancing.  She married Joseph “Skip” Schellentrager on January 25, 1947. A Cleveland firefighter, Skip died in the line of duty in 1959 leaving three young boys Martin, Joseph, and Jeffrey.  Her parents Martin and Sue sold their home to move in with their daughter and grandsons. With extended family, they provided an idyllic home for the boys. Margie learned to drive and began her career at Interlake Stamping. Margie met and married Christo J. Bolocanoff, a widower with two young daughters, Michele and Kimberly, on June 22, 1967. Chris served in the Marines and became an accountant, retiring from Mr. Coffee. They raised their blended family in Euclid with high expectations to be caring and competent. Margie was proud of her five children, who all became college graduates and career professionals in their fields of study. She loved planning events and celebrations and was the host for every occasion, small or large. Margie retired as office manager at Interlake Stamping in 1990 when she became a grandmother. Walking, Aerobic Dance, water aerobics, and spoiling grandchildren became her passions. Margie was once interviewed on television and told everyone, “when you rest, you rust!” Every year, she would plan an extended family vacation at Maumee Bay State Park Lodge, where the whole family played and celebrated. She delighted in playing family games such as Mexican Train, cards, and board games. Margie and Chris moved to Crystal River, Florida in 1999. They enjoyed living in the sunshine state for fifteen years, making new friends and enjoying boating, beaching, swimming, walking, and playing bridge. They loved hosting family for the holidays and sharing their love of the Nature Coast. Margie and Chris moved back to northeast Ohio in 2015 so they could be near their family. They celebrated their 50th anniversary with a party that of course involved music and dancing the jitterbug! Chris died in September of 2019. Margie is survived by her five children Martin, Joseph (Shirley), and Jeffrey Schellentrager (Anne Mueller), Michele Hribar (Joe), Kimberly Simpson (Neil), and former daughter-in-law, Linda Schellentrager, who will cherish her memory. She will also be loved and missed by her eight grandchildren Mary Schellentrager, Joey Hribar, Laura Schellentrager, Kate Shaw (Nate), Eric Schellentrager, Julia Chandler (Roland), Leah Schellentrager, and Jay Schellentrager.
