Summit County Sheriff’s Office: Deputy Injured in Crash

On Thursday, July 20, 2023, at approximately 9:40 p.m., a Summit County Sheriff’s Deputy was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic. The deputy was directing traffic at the intersection of Steels Corners Road and Northampton Road in Cuyahoga Falls. A 2006 Ford F-450 pulling a car hauler travelled through the intersection and struck the deputy. The Summit County Sheriff’s Office, the Summit Metro Crash Response Team, and the Cuyahoga Falls Police department responded to assist with the crash. The deputy suffered life threatening injuries and was transported by the Cuyahoga Falls Fire Department to Summa Hospital. The intersection was closed for approximately 2 hours.

The crash remains under investigation by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and Summit Metro Crash Response Team. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
