On Sunday, April 16, 2023, at approximately 2:55 a.m., the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and the Green Fire Department responded to a call of a pedestrian that had been struck by a truck on Interstate 77. The Crash occurred on I77 at mile marker 118.8 in the City of Green. The man walked into the southbound lanes of I77 and was subsequently struck by a semi tractor trailer. The man was identified as a 49 year old male from Springfield Township. He was transported to a local hospital by the Green Fire Department. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver of the truck did not sustain any injuries in the crash.
No charges have been filed at this time. The crash remains under investigation by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
