Summit County Sheriff’s Office Hosts Third Annual Summit Faith & Blue

AKRON – Sheriff Kandy Fatheree is excited to announce that the Summit County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting Summit Faith & Blue on Saturday, October 7th from 11:00am-2:00pm at Hardesty Park in Akron.

Now in its third year locally, the Faith & Blue initiative is the largest nationwide community-law enforcement collaboration of its kind. The goal of Faith & Blue is to build and strengthen the ties between law enforcement and the community. Faith-based organizations are key to this mission because they are the largest and most diverse community resource in the nation. Thousands of Faith & Blue events will be held across the country that same weekend in October.

“The mission of Faith & Blue is more important now than ever before,” said Sheriff Fatheree. “If we hope to heal the divisions that exist within our community, we have to start coming together and seeing each other as what we are: neighbors.”

Summit Faith & Blue is free and open to the public. Fun, family-friendly interactive games, activities, raffles, performances, a touch-a-truck, and a 1K fun run/walk are planned involving law enforcement and the public interacting together. Free food and drink will be available.

Law enforcement agencies, faith communities, non-profits, and community organizations from throughout Summit County are encouraged to participate. For more information or to sign-up as a participant, please visit SummitFaithandBlue.com.
