Summit County Sheriff’s Office PRESS RELEASE Arrest Made in RV Theft

Summit County Sheriff Kandy Fatheree is pleased to announce the arrest of a suspect that attempted to evade law enforcement authorities. On Tuesday, June 2, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a suspicious person on Greensburg Road in the City of Green. It was reported that a male suspect was attempting to break into vehicles.

When the Sheriff’s Deputy responded, she witnessed an RV leave the scene at a high rate of speed with the doors open and a power cord dragging behind the vehicle. The Deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on the RV, but the driver refused to stop the vehicle. The suspect intentionally struck other vehicles, including law enforcement vehicles. The Tire deflation devices were deployed twice in an effort to stop the vehicle.

The suspect drove into the back yards of residences on Briarwood Way in the City of Green. The suspect vehicle eventually got stuck and the driver fled the vehicle on foot. OSP and Summit County Deputies pursued the suspect on foot. The suspect was apprehended by an OSP K9 Unit.

The suspect was arrested and identified at Randy H. Schiffbauer, age 24 of Green. He was booked into the Summit County Jail.

There were no injuries during the incident.
