Jake Nees’ life may have tragically ended recently in a motorcycle-vehicular accident, but he will be remembered for his vigor for life by not only his family and friends, but also his colleagues at MGM Northfield Park. His unexpected passing has left a hole in the hearts of his MGM work family, as they simply adored Jake. “Jake was always willing to help others, he was a friend to everyone”, says Ken Kuehls, an MGM colleague of Jake’s. Ken feeling especially moved by Jake’s passing described him as someone who lived life to the fullest and always had his friend’s backs.
Ken Kuehls chose to honor Jake in a unique way by having two local girls create bracelets in memory of Jake. As Ken was scrolling Facebook’s Nordonia Hills Marketplace he saw that Charlotte and Sami Eimers, ages 9 and 13, were selling homemade bracelets. It was then that Ken decided to place a special order for seventy-five homemade bracelets. Ken said, “I decided to get bracelets made in remembrance. Jake will always be in our hearts and MGM family. We lost an awesome person when we lost Jake.” The MGM team received the bracelets; black and grey beads, with round white ones that spelled out “JAKE” shortly thereafter. The MGM team placed their hands and wrists donned with the bracelets over their hearts in remembrance of Jake (in picture shown).
“The Chaboom Sisters”, an online business with handmade bracelets made by Charlotte and Sami Eimers has drawn interest on social media since the duo created the keepsakes for MGM employees. Rick Eimers, their father tells Nordonia Hills.News that the girls started the business to help pay for their numerous activities. Charlotte is active on the HCA volleyball, basketball, and cross-country teams, and even snagged the lead Scrooge role she portrayed in a school play. Sami swims competitively but her main focus is being a gymnast for Johnson Gymnastics in Valley View. In recent months, she placed in the top three in the state all around for her level. Both girls attend Heritage Classical Academy (HCA) in Peninsula, OH. HCA is a Christian school that teaches selfless service to others is a natural outflow of someone of genuine character, according to Rick.
When the Chaboom Sisters were asked to create the bracelets for the MGM team, they were very excited to realize their bracelets would be worn by so many first responders and police officers. Previously they’ve had opportunities to create pink bracelets for cancer patients as well.
Brooke and Rick Eimers, Christian parents of Charlotte and Sami have talked to their girls about how life is fragile, not to take relationships for granted, and how to experience joy by selflessly giving others of their time, talent, and treasure. With Christian teachings in mind, the family accepts they have a responsibility to care for others who are hurting or are in pain, and that the small acts of kindness can mean the world to them. “We know that bracelets do not ease the pain of their loss, but we hope that in a small way the family is encouraged by so many wearing ‘Jake’ bracelets in his memory and honor,” says Rick.
The world lost a devoted and beloved young man when Jake Nees tragically and unexpectedly lost his life. He will not be forgotten by those who knew him, as he will always be remembered as someone who shared a smile with others, and a vigor for life.
A special thanks goes out to the Northfield Police Dept., and MGM management team and employees.
