Third-Inning Burst Enough To Lead North Royalton Past Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights

North Royalton scored six runs in the third inning, which helped them defeat Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights 10-0 on Wednesday.

A single by Mya Goloja put North Royalton on the board in the bottom of the first.

North Royalton scored six runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning. Kirra Smeal induced Goloja to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, Kaitlin Green doubled, scoring one run, Olivia Franko doubled, scoring two runs, and Elizabeth Nuzzo homered to left field, scoring two runs.

Franko earned the win for North Royalton. The starter gave up one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking none. Smeal took the loss for Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights. The hurler went three innings, surrendering eight runs on seven hits, striking out two and walking one.

Smeal and Brooke Becker each collected one hit for Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights. Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Becker had the most chances in the field with eight.

North Royalton accumulated 10 hits in the game. Goloja provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led North Royalton with three runs batted in. The third baseman went 1-for-2 on the day. Green and Madison Colella each collected two hits for North Royalton.

Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights will travel to Solon for their next game on Thursday.
