I’ve kept you informed on all of the issues that we’ve faced together and now we are facing perhaps the most important issue ever, the future of our fire and EMS services! I am now in the process of taking a poll to see if the residents have any interest in passing a 6-mill levy to resurrect our Fire Department. In doing so, I’ve discovered a rather unique problem.
There are about 900 email addresses on my newsletter mailing list. About 850 of those addresses belong to Northfield Center residents with the remaining to outside interests and news media. The problem is that as of this writing and with Thursday’s deadline looming, I’ve only received 79 emailed responses with 118 actual ‘votes’ sent in. That’s only 79 responses out of 850 requests! What’s wrong with this picture?
Hundreds of Sagamore Hills residents are reportedly up in arms because they believe that their elected Trustees are ignoring them and not permitting them any input involving their decision to leave our Fire District. Yet over here in Northfield Center, we appear to have the very opposite problem because we are almost begging for your input and receiving a miniscule response. Perhaps I am under the illusion that the future of the safety, well-being and the very lives of our residents and their property are not really as important as I thought it was. Come on folks, show me that I am wrong. Show me and everyone else that you care about this most important issue. For those of you who have yet to respond to the poll, please do so as soon as possible. It only takes a few mouse clicks and keystrokes to participate!
I know that there are many questions involving this issue but we do not have all of the answers yet. The poll question should be considered an “if all else fails” question. We are only looking for some direction to take in our pursuit of a resolution.
To those of you who have already responded, THANK YOU. To those who have not, PLEASE RESPOND RIGHT NOW
