As a lifelong resident whose parents and family still live in the Village, I am deeply concerned about the future. I’ve been serving the village as a Ward B councilperson voicing the concerns of residents and businesses. They are ignored by the current Mayor.
I find that Mayor Jesse Nehez’s vision of the village is slow moving at best. With the budget of over ten million dollars, Jesse Nehez has neglected these areas below.
My first year in office I will work to accomplish the following projects: Northfield Village will have state of the art parks residents deserve it, remodeling the pavilion at Smith Park and constructing a new pavilion at Huntington Park, an outdoor running and walking track at Smith Park, new dug outs with a scoreboard in the ballfields along with additional bleachers for each park, and additional parking at Huntington Park.
I will also have a plan for a civic center for seniors, and children’s birthday parties. We must get into the 21st century.
Residents on Cambridge, Coventry, Milford, Stratford, North Plaza and Huntington were told their streets would be repaved and new curbs yet that has not happened, under my administration it will.
A top priority of mine, will be to work toward suspending the quarterly sewer maintenance bill to the residents of the village, and will work toward providing free trash pickup for all the village residents.
When I am elected Mayor, I will have a true beautification program every year at city hall, the fire department, all of our parks, Northfield Road, and the flower beds under each welcome Northfield Village sign.
I am disappointed that Jesse Nehez wanted a pay raise and full health care for a part time job for the next term. I voted no. Finally, I feel it is shameful that Jesse Nehez would not put additional flower pots hanging on Northfield Road because he said we did not have revenue in our budget.
I look forward to meeting you and all the residents of Northfield Village. My heart and commitment is to you, not a pay raise.
