NORTHFIELD, OHIO – As the clock neared 6:00 p.m. at Northfield’s Hard Rock Rocksino, fans anxiously awaited entrance to the Meet-and-Greet of Vicki Lawrence. You could feel the energy in the air. People were ready. They wanted to meet Mama and they didn’t even have to say it, you could just feel it. This energy shined as bright as the lights flashing on the slot machines that filled the surrounding area.
After just a few minutes of waiting, fans walked the red carpet and met their favorite Mama. They couldn’t be more thrilled. Talks about a memorable moment.
Vicki was so gracious that she even spoke on the phone with a fan that couldn’t make it to the show! After the meet-and-greet, fans headed to their seats and in the blink of an eye, all of the seats were occupied. Hard Rock Rocksino was packed and ready for Vicki Lawrence to hit the stage. So ready that even one fan came dressed in Mama attire: this elderly woman had that famous floral print and gray curls down to a tee. You just knew she was a die-hard “Mama’s Family” fan and that alone made your heart smile.
Not one moment of the show passed where Vicki didn’t give her fans 100 percent. Memories came rolling in – memories that took everyone further back than even “Mama’s Family” as Vicki sang her famous 1970s Gold Record Hit, “The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia.” Talk about a roar from the crowd – hands waved in the air – fans cheered loudly.
Additionally, fans were still taken back to Raytown as two other numbers, including a hilarious dance number that was “oh so Thelma Harper” was performed. Not to mention, the hilarious bloopers shared from “Mama’s Family!” There’s an unexpected but very funny treat at the end of the bloopers, which I will leave for your surprise! Folks, words really won’t justify this act! You must venture to Vicki’s next tour stop for this once-in-a-lifetime, up-close experience with the hottest red-head around.
Did I mention the laughs yet? Humor hit the stage the instant Vicki arrived and it didn’t let up. The laughs were endless. And these weren’t just your average chuckles, here and there. Folks were cracking up – to the point where one of Mama’s biggest fans, Danielle Johnson of Spencer, Ohio, had tears in her eyes from laughing so hard.
Vicki and Mama were on it. Jokes were political, edgy, and current – making references to Donald Trump and the Kardashians but you know what? It was still Mama. It was still that humor straight out of the yellow kitchen in Raytown. As I said, Miss Fireball is still burning after all these years and so is Thelma Harper. Now, go see the show before Mama heads back to Raytown and Vicki to her next adventure!
