Monthly Challenges
For Grades K-5 – Monthly challenges will be located in children’s area. Complete the challenge for a chance to win a small prize.

How to Spot and Stop a Scam
Learn how to properly spot a con artist, provide tips on how to avoid scams and ways to outsmart the scammer at this program presented by the Summit County Office of Consumer Affairs. Wednesday, June 6, 6 p.m.

Yoga for Kids
Join Nirvana Yoga for some yoga fun. Ages 2-7. Registration is appreciated. Thursdays, June 7, July 19, and August 16, 11 a.m.

Surf’s Up – Beach Music of the 60s
Bill Brauning presents a special summer multimedia program highlighting the instrumental surf music of the 1960’s, plus the vocal music of the Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, and many others. Registration suggested. Thursday, June 7, 7 p.m.

Monday Casual Reads
Join us the second Monday of each month for reader-to-reader book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss “reader’s choice” of a book to celebrate our 12th anniversary on Monday, June 11 at 2 p.m.

Teens Do Something
This is a great way for students going into 5th through 12th grades to volunteer. We will meet every other Monday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. to do a different type of project. Some of the projects we will work on: making busy bags for Akron Children’s Hospital, cards for shut-ins, and jobs around the library. Please contact us for more details. Family Night
Join our program for families of all ages! One Monday a month at 6:30 p.m., we’ll get together for some great crafts. On Monday, June 11 – Join Miss Sue and create a floating ball.

School Age Fun!
Tuesdays at 2 p.m. For students in Kindergarten – 5th grade.
June 12 – Cartoonist Jeff Nicholas will share his drawing talents and show us how he draws some of his cartoons.
June 19 – Lindsay Bonilla, interactive storyteller from World of Difference, will share some wonderful stories.
June 26 – Outback Ray will bring some of his amazing animal friends.
July 3 – Bingo.
July 10 –The magic of David Anthony.
July 17 – Juggler Matt Jergens.
July 24 – Music by a D.J. from One T Entertainment.

Stitch Clique
Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, June 12, 6-8 p.m.

Paws for Reading
Read a book to Edmund, a certified therapy dog. Bring a book or read one of ours! This is a great way for children to practice their literacy skills and gain more confidence in reading aloud. Children of all ages are welcome. Tuesday, June 12, 6:30 p.m.

Cookies and Conversation
The second Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m., meet to talk about what’s going on your life, school, town or the world. We’ll discuss philosophy, current events or whatever is on the group’s mind. And remember we have cookies! Wednesday, June 13 at 3:30 p.m.

Socrates Café
Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Café, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe opens on Wednesday, June 13 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.

Teen Mini Makerspace
For students going into grade 5 and up. Thursdays at 2 p.m.
June 14 – Come & do some sandpaper printing.
June 21 – Adam Pate associate will demonstrate and teach us how to do Caricatures.
June 28 – 6th Annual Paper Airplane Races! Come race your designs against other worthy opponents.
July 5 – Create a beach chair to hold your phone.
July 12 – We’re constructing a duct tape pencil case.
July 19 – Duct tape is the medium again. Come and make a geometric planter.
July 26 – How good is your memory? Come play book cover memory.

Coffee & Conversation Book Discussion
Join us for some great conversation with your fellow Nordonia Hills readers! Our next discussion is Thursday, June 14 at 2 p.m. We will discuss Dreamland by Sam Quinones.

Messy Monday
Messy Monday is one Monday a month. We will do bouncing ball painting on Monday, June 18 at 6 p.m.

Wellness Yoga: Yoga Off the Mat
Learn soothing stretches that you can incorporate into your daily life in this gentle yoga series with Diane Bielecki, who graduated from the Cleveland Clinic School of Yoga. No mat is needed – stretches are done standing or in a chair. Please dress in comfortable clothing and arrive 5-10 minutes early so that class may begin on time. This class is limited to twenty participants, and registration is strongly suggested. Tuesdays, June 19; July 10, 24; August 21, 28, 6:30 p.m.

Living Mindfully: An Introduction to Meditation and Mindfulness
In a world that can feel increasingly chaotic and divisive, meditation provides a path home to your true peaceful and compassionate self. This presentation includes an introduction to the concepts and practices related to meditation and mindfulness, a discussion of the benefits of developing a personal practice, and a brief guided meditation to introduce participants to the experience of meditating. Wednesday, June 20, 6:30 p.m.

Writers’ Guild of Nordonia Hills
Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, June 20.

A History of Game Shows
David Harding discusses the long and fascinating history of television game shows, highlighting the interesting hosts and the many types of games broadcast over the years. Refreshments served. Registration suggested. Thursday, June 21, 7 pm

Nordonia Hills Game Time
Join our regular gaming “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Saturday, June 23, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments served. No registration necessary.

Adult Coloring Night
Bring your own coloring book or choose from provided coloring pages and spend the evening relaxing and coloring with new friends. Tuesday, June 26, 6 p.m.

Mystery Book Discussions
The Mystery Book Lovers discussion group is an informal group of adult mystery readers. Our next discussion will be Scorched Eggs by Laura Childs on Wednesday, June 27 at 7 p.m.

Summer Food Drive
In partnership with The Emergency Assistance Center of Northfield, the Library is hosting a summer food drive for the month of July. Canned and boxed foods (non-expired) are requested. Drop off donations in the Library lobby. July 2 – 31.

Crafters’ Corner
Join your fellow craft enthusiasts for daylong fun. Bring your own supplies. All crafts welcome. Lots of table space to spread out. Refreshments served. Come for an hour or the entire day. Saturday, July 14, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
