Sleeping Without a Fan

by Dale Hansen, Practice Administrator, Family Hearing & Balance Center

So, I woke up the other morning, before I was fitted with my new hearing devices, and I realized that I had went to sleep the night before without a fan. I have had tinnitus for years and I have never went to sleep without a fan, TV background noise, or a radio. I developed tinnitus and ringing in the ears years ago from sitting under an ambulance siren when they were mounted in the light bar. It is a constant high-pitched radio tone that never stops. When I am aware of it, the noise inside my head can keep me from falling asleep and sometimes, I can’t concentrate during normal conversation. Loud noises are unbearable, and silence is the worst.
