Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes Joins Rock Hall Honors Concert Lineup

Fans can extend the experience at Mavis Staples Fan Day September 21.

CLEVELAND (September 12, 2019) – In just over a week, Dawes frontman and guitarist, Taylor Goldsmith will join the talented lineup set to perform live in concert and honor the legendary Mavis Staples, the first recipient of the new Rock Hall Honors award, sponsored by Klipsch Audio and PNC Bank on September 20th at Playhouse Square’s State Theatre at 8pm.

In 2008, Taylor formed Dawes alongside brother and drummer Griffin Goldsmith and bassist Wylie Gelber with keyboardist Lee Pardini joining in 2015. The band has recorded six studio albums including the recently released, Passwords.

Previously announced artists on the bill include 2004 Inductee Jackson Browne and singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Valerie June.

Following the show, the celebration continues at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 21st for Mavis Staples Fan Day. Events include an exhibit dedication with Honoree, Mavis Staples and a live performance by the Valerie June Trio.

The day kicks off with a special performance as the gospel choice from Olivet International Baptist Church take the PNC stage.

Mavis Staples Exhibit Dedication

Honoree, Mavis Staples joins us for the dedication of her Rock Hall Honors exhibit. The limited-time display includes performance gowns, images from Staples’ personal collection, and a Fender Telecaster played by Pops Staples.

Valerie June Trio Live Performance

Throughout the day, fans can view Staples’ artifacts on display in the newly unveiled Rock Hall Honors exhibit, hear a specially curated playlist throughout the museum, see uncut Staples Singers induction footage from the Vault in the museum’s Forest City Theater, and catch a screening of the Peabody award-winning documentary Mavis! In the Foster Theater.
