Monthly Challenges
For Grades K-5 – Monthly challenges will be located in children’s area. Complete the challenge for a chance to win a small prize. For the February project, share your own list of 10 Things You Love!

DIY Water Marbling with Nail Polish
Create your own marbled masterpieces on a variety of surfaces with nail polish and water. All supplies provided. This class is limited to fifteen participants, and attendance is first come, first seated. Wednesday, February 22, 6:30 p.m.

Family Night
Join our program for families of all ages! One Monday a month at 6:30 p.m. we’ll get together for some great crafts. Monday, February 27 – We are going to make and launch our straw rockets!

Adult Coloring Night
Bring your own coloring book or choose from provided coloring pages and spend the evening relaxing and coloring with new friends. Tuesday, February 28, 6 p.m.

Friends of the Library Book Sale
The Friends of Nordonia Hills Branch Library will hold their Spring Book Sale Friday, March 3, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. AND Saturday, March 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A $4.00 bag sale begins at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The preview sale for Friends members is Friday, March 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. Memberships starting at $5.00 may be purchased at the door. You must be a member to attend.

Tai-Chi: Moving for Better Balance
Kim Mozzochi with the Area Agency on Aging conducts this FREE exercise series, geared toward older adults wanting to improve strength, flexibility and muscle tone. The sessions meet twice per week for a 12-week period. Registration is strongly encouraged, as space is limited. This series may be cancelled due to low attendance. Mondays and Tuesdays, March 6 – May 23, 10:30 a.m.

3rd – 4th Grade Book Club
For children in 3rd-4th grades. Once a month at 4 p.m., we will read a different chapter book and then come in and talk about it with others over a drink and a snack. On Monday, March 6, we will read Little Horse by Betsy Byers.

Cooking Club
A new interactive group for discussing all things cooking, comparing recipes, and trying new eats. First Tuesday of each month. Tuesday, March 7, 6 p.m.

Not Dead Yet: Author Talk with Don Rambacher
Local author Don Rambacher talks about his new book, Not Dead Yet: A Collection of Close Calls & Other Memories, a humorous memoir of the author’s journey growing up in Salem, Ohio. Rambacher will make you laugh with stories of adventures, mishaps and many trips to the hospital. The book will be available for purchase and signing after the talk. Tuesday, March 7, 6:30 p.m.

Cookies and Conversation
The second Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m., meet to talk about what’s going on your life, school, town or the world. We’ll discuss philosophy, current events or whatever is on the group’s mind. And don’t forget we’ll have cookies! Wednesday, March 8 at 3:30 p.m.

Socrates Café
Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Café, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe opens on Wednesday, March 8 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.

Coffee & Conversation Book Discussions
Join us for some great conversation with your fellow Nordonia Hills readers! Our afternoon book discussion group meets the second Thursday of each month. Our next discussion is Thursday, March 9 at 2 p.m. We will discuss Mrs. Grant and Madame Jule, by Jennifer Chiaverini.

No School Library Party
Help us build a fort out of newspapers. Bring your friends and have some fun on your day off school. For students in grades 5 and up. Please sign up. Friday, March 10 at 2:30 p.m.

Crafters’ Corner
Join your fellow craft enthusiasts for daylong fun. Bring your own supplies. All crafts welcome. Lots of table space to spread out. Refreshments served. Come for an hour or the entire day. Saturday, March 11, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Monday Casual Reads
Join us the second Monday of each month for reader-to-reader book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss Heart and Soul, by Maeve Binchy, on Monday, March 13 at 2 p.m.

Messy Mondays
Join us for messy fun! Don’t forget to wear some old clothes, you may get messy. On Monday, March 13 at 6 p.m. we will have some fun making garden bead wind chimes.

Stitch Clique
Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, March 14, 6-8 p.m.

Beginning Beekeeping
For the aspiring beekeeper: find out what the beginning beekeeper needs to know in their first year! Learn about your local ordinances, where to place the beehive, how to install a package of bees, how to feed your bees and how to conduct a hive inspection. Wednesday, March 15, 6 p.m.

Writers’ Guild of Nordonia Hills
Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, March 15.

Great Lakes Theater Play
We welcome the acclaimed theater troupe back to Nordonia Hills for a seventeenth year as they present an original world premiere play. THE JABBERWOCKY is based on the classic poem by Lewis Carroll. The performance is approximately 50 minutes long. A talk-back with the company will follow. No registration needed; seats are first-come, first-seated. Thursday, March 16, at 6 p.m.

Nordonia Hills Game Time
The library hosts a regular “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up is Saturday, March 18 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments are served. No registration is necessary.

Mini Teen Makerspace
For students in grade 5 and up. One Tuesday a month at 6:30 p.m. we will get together and create with a different medium. On Tuesday, March 21, learn some knots, try some weaving, or others things to make with yarn.

After School Club
For children in K-4th grade. Wednesday, March 22, 4 p.m. – we will make a sock bunny!

Wellness Yoga: Yoga Off the Mat
Learn soothing stretches that you can incorporate into your daily life in this gentle yoga series with Diane Bielecki, who graduated from the Cleveland Clinic School of Yoga. No mat is needed – stretches are done standing or in a chair. Please dress in comfortable clothing and arrive 5-10 minutes early so that class may begin on time. This class is limited to twenty participants, and registration is strongly suggested. Wednesdays, March 22, 29, and and April 5, 6:30 p.m.

Mystery Book Discussions
The Mystery Book Lovers discussion group is an informal group of adult mystery readers. Our next discussion will be “Reader’s Choice” of a Georgette Heyer mystery on Wednesday, March 22 at 7 p.m.

Get Creative with Virtual Reality & Videogames!
The world is your canvas with virtual reality! With Google Tilt Brush on the HTC Vive, paint in 3D space as you experience the future of digital art. Play other creative digital experiences while you wait: build in Minecraft, make your own Super Mario levels, and play the original Nintendo’s sound chip. No registration necessary. Saturday, March 25, 1-4 p.m.
