Monthly Challenges
For Grades K-5 – Monthly challenges will be located in children’s area. Complete the challenge for a chance to win a small prize. For the September project, fill in the correct verb to our puzzle!

Writers’ Guild of Nordonia Hills
Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, September 20.

Teens Do Something
Need volunteer hours? Join us one Saturday a month from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., and drop in at any time. The next meeting will be on Saturday, September 23. Some of the projects we’ll be doing are making library decoration, cookies for sheriff’s office and cleaning library books and shelves. Any questions please ask Miss Sue.

Science Saturday
Join us for great hands on STEAM fun! Children, school age and up, bring moms, dads, and the whole family. Saturday, September 23, 2:30 p.m.

Messy Mondays
Join us for messy fun! Remember to wear some old clothes, you may get messy. On Monday, September 25 at 6 p.m., try out tissue paper art transfer canvas.

Insights into the Unknown
Do you believe in ghosts? You will after you see a presentation by investigators from Tri-C Ghost Hunters! They collectively have been on over 900 investigations, from a small two-bedroom apartment in West Virginia to a large medieval castle in Scotland. They have over 180 years’ total experience in the paranormal field and have investigated nearly 200 locations, including many well-known haunted locations and numerous private homes. Join us as they take you on a trip into the world of paranormal and ghost hunting as they present evidence from some of their most memorable investigations. Tuesday, September 26, 6 p.m.

Adult Coloring Night
Bring your own coloring book or choose from provided coloring pages and spend the evening relaxing and coloring with new friends. Tuesday, September 26, 6 p.m.

Mystery Book Discussions
The Mystery Book Lovers discussion group is an informal group of adult mystery readers. Our next discussion will be “Reader’s Choice” of a Robert Randisi mystery on Wednesday, September 27 at 7 p.m.

11th Annual Murder Mystery: ”The Big Double-Cross”
The chief and the crime boss have arranged a summit to “clear the air.” But someone has been “bumped off,” and everyone is a suspect! Prizes for the successful sleuth, and food for all. For all patrons 16 & over. Ticket entry required. Tickets are free – two per person only. Register in person. Event will be held on Saturday, September 30, at 6 p.m.

A Force of Nature
The Largely Literary Theater Company presents a drama celebrating the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service. It tells of the meeting between President Theodore Roosevelt and naturalist John Muir in Yosemite. Thursday, October 5 at 7 p.m. Registration suggested, but seats are first-come, first-seated. Based on Mark Dawidziak’s new book, THEODORE ROOSEVELT FOR NATURE LOVERS.

Monday Casual Reads
Join us the second Monday of each month for reader-to-reader book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss Home Safe, by Elizabeth Berg, on Monday, October 9 at 2 p.m.

Stitch Clique
Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, October 10, 6-8 p.m.

Paws for Reading
Read a book to Edmund, a certified therapy dog. Bring a book from home or read one of ours! This is a great way for children to practice their literacy skills and gain more confidence in reading aloud. Children of all ages are welcome. Tuesdays, October 10, November 14, 6:30 p.m.

Cookies and Conversation
The second Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m., meet to talk about what’s going on your life, school, town or the world. We’ll discuss philosophy, current events or whatever is on the group’s mind. And remember we have cookies! Wednesday, October 11 at 3:30 p.m.

Socrates Café
Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Café, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe opens on Wednesday, October 11 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.

Coffee & Conversation Book Discussion
Join us for some great conversation with your fellow Nordonia Hills readers! Our afternoon book discussion group meets the second Thursday of each month. Our next discussion is Thursday, October 12 at 2 p.m. We will discuss Brain on Fire, by Susannah Calahan.

Ohio Hauntings
Jim Kleefeld tells chilling tales of eerie places and ominous deeds, including a display of intriguing artifacts from historic Ohio places. Registration suggested. Thursday, October 12, 7 p.m.

Crafters’ Corner
Join your fellow craft enthusiasts for daylong fun. Bring your own supplies. All crafts welcome. Lots of table space to spread out. Refreshments served. Come for an hour or the entire day. Saturday, October 14, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Megagame: Night Falls
Under cover of darkness, vampires clash with the villagers who hunt them. Do you have the strength of will and negotiating savvy when night falls? This is an exciting new interactive mix of board game, role-playing, tactical thinking, and model UN. Saturday, October 14, 1 – 4 p.m. Registration suggested. Come alone or bring some friends. The more players, the better! Teams will be formed at the event. No prior experience necessary. This event will have snacks and prizes!

Paint Night
Paint your own masterpiece and discover your creativity! Each artist will have a finished painting to take home at the end of the night. Sign-ups are limited to two spots per person. Both nights will feature the same painting, so sign ups per person are limited to one night each. Sixteen and over, please. All supplies provided, and registration is strongly encouraged by calling 330-467-8595, or by stopping in the library. Tuesday, October 17 and Wednesday, October 25, 6-8 p.m.

Cooking Club
An interactive group for discussing all things cooking, comparing recipes, and trying new eats. Third Tuesday of each month. Tuesday, October 17, 7 p.m.

Nordonia Hills Game Time
The library hosts a regular gaming “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Saturday, October 21, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments are served. No registration is necessary.

Family Night
Join our program for families of all ages! One Monday a month at 6:30 p.m. we’ll get together for some great crafts. Monday, October 23 – We’re making monster mobiles. (Say that 5 times fast.)

Teen Mini Makerspace
For students in grade 5 and up. One Tuesday a month at 6:30 p.m. we will get together and create using a different medium each time. Tuesday, October 24 – bleeding candles for Halloween.
