Sunday, November 5th, 2017 was turning out to be a normal day in northeast Ohio, until a storm erupted at around 6 pm. That was when havoc started to wreak.

Trees falling to the ground, roofs flying off of houses, power lines disconnecting: these are some of the many problems the storm induced. However, one major problem more than 37,000 people, according to cleveland.com, encountered was the power outage. For some, it lasted for not even two hours. For others, like myself, it lasted for two days. It may not seem like a big deal, relative to the devastation of Hurricane Harvey or Hurricane Irma, but it was definitely difficult to cope with.

Generally, power outages are common during storms. However, they last for a short amount of time, so this was a new experience for many people in Ohio.

Improvisation was key in surviving through the storm. For example, at my house, my dad lit our gas stove to replace our inoperative furnace.

Entertainment was not really an aspect during the storm, since conserving phone batteries in case of an emergency was crucial. Nevertheless, the storm promoted family time, which is something everyone could use because of how immense of a role technology plays in our lives nowadays.

Although, this storm may have caused a great deal of destruction, it was a transformative occurrence that caused much more appreciation for the things we take for granted in life.
