NORDONIA HILLS MEMORIAL DAY PARADE AND CEREMONIES CANCELLED

1151

It is with heartfelt regret that we are going to cancel the 2020 Memorial Day Parade and Ceremonies. With the recent pandemic that has plagued our nation and community, it is of upmost importance that we ensure the health and safety of our community. With the cancellation of school for the remainder of the school year, spring sports cancelled and other youth extracurricular activities cancelled, the majority of our parade would be missing.

For those who are unaware, we started a Nordonia Hills Memorial Day Parade Committee after last year’s parade to streamline the flow, local organization support and Veteran involvement while addressing community concerns. The committee consisted of numerous organization to include the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Northfield Post 6768, American Legion Post 801, Nordonia Hills Schools, Rotary Club, Lions Club, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the Nordonia Hills Chamber of Commerce. We worked tirelessly on making this the best parade Nordonia has experienced in many years. Unfortunately, we will have to wait another year to prove that to you.

I ask that since the parade is cancelled, we still remember the importance of this day. The ultimate sacrifice that was paid by our Nation’s heroes is something that should never be forgotten. Please fly our great Nations flag in your yard, line your curb with flags and hold this special day near and dear to your heart. Pray for our missing and killed in action and the safety of those currently serving.

Stay safe. Stay healthy. As always, I thank you for your support and God Bless America.
