With sadness, our family announces the death of Mary Jane Kennedy who passed away with COVID-19 on May 19, 2020. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Jane Kennedy, sister Barbara DeWitt (Ken) and brother Robert (Jule).
As a young woman, Mary Jane was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and she had challenges managing that throughout her life. In recent years, Robert lovingly looked after her needs until his own death in 2018 and Jule continued to do so lovingly afterwards. She was well-loved by many others including her parents, late sister Barbara, sister Margaret Kennedy (David Pedlar), nephews Patrick Kennedy (Meg), Rob Kennedy (Karen), John Kennedy (Dana), John DeWitt (Nesreen Ibrahim), David DeWitt (Leigh), Matthew Dewitt, (Debby Bockhorn) her niece, Jennifer Hoelzer (Ron), and lifelong friend Marka Spencer (Jeffrey). Mary Jane was also loved by her great nieces and nephews, and is remembered by many lifelong friends.
Mary Jane was a proud graduate of Hoban-Dominican High School, 1966, St. Alexis School of Nursing, 1969, and she earned a BA from John Carroll University in 1987. Most of her career was dedicated to being a surgical nurse and she fulfilled other nursing roles as well. She chose a career caring for others and always excelled in her profession. She had many other interests including the arts and travel. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends to various interesting places throughout the world.
There will be a private visitation and funeral Mass at SS Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. Your prayers at that time would be appreciated by the family. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Northfield, Ohio.
