Scotty was a wonderful man who brought joy to all who knew him. He loved meeting new people and talked to everyone.
He was born to an Irish immigrant mother and he spoke with an Irish brogue for much of his young life. Sadly, his mother passed away when he was only 4 years old.
When he was about 5, his father remarried and Scotty began working for the family business, Bosak Dairy on Fulton Rd in Cleveland. He was not even old enough to cross the street without his Grandmother’s help, but went there daily to wash milk bottles. By the age of 12, Scotty began driving the milk truck making deliveries before school and then returning after to get ready for the next day. The work ethic that he instilled into his family began with him at a very early age.
In high school he enlisted in the Navy and was able to travel throughout the Mediterranean. He told many wonderful stories of the places he had been and one of his favorites was when he held court with The Pope.
In 1960, he was honorably discharged from the Navy and married the love of his life, Marie. They had 3 daughters, 5 granddaughters, a great-grandson and a great-granddaughter.
Scotty was the proud owner of Southgate Shell Service Station for 21 years. From there he went on to be the service manager for Andy Sims Buick and then finished his career driving a vending route at Cuyahoga Vending for his brother-in-law until the age of 75.
For 14 years, Scotty cared for Marie who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the young age of 56. He was always there to care for her and showed us all what true love really meant.
Scotty and Marie loved to travel to their favorite place in Daytona Beach for a few weeks every year. Once his wife had passed, Scotty continued to visit there every year with his new love and companion Ivy.
He began an Alzheimer’s support group and held monthly meetings. It was a passion he held close to his heart to help families who were touched by this horrible disease.
He also loved to bowl and was still on a bowling league every Tuesday.
He loved his life, his children, grandchildren and family and we will all miss him so much each and every day. Our lives were full and overflowing because of him. He was our rock, our hero and the best example of love anyone could ask for.
