Summit County Sheriff’s Office: Missing Person Located

1298

Sheriff Kandy Fatheree would like to announce her agency’s efforts to return a missing person to her home in Texas. On March 31, 2021 the Summit County Adult Protective Services received a referral regarding a 69 year old woman. It was believed that the woman may have been reported as a missing person from Oklahoma. An investigator for Adult Protective Services and a Detective from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office investigated the report and found a Facebook page from Elk City, Oklahoma. It was determined that in 2017, the woman boarded a plane with a friend and traveled to Ohio. She subsequently became separated from her friend and had no way of contacting family members. In January of 2021, the woman ended up homeless at the Heaven of Rest. The Haven of Rest staff connected her with someone that assisted her in getting stabilized with housing. Contact was made with the missing woman’s family and they confirmed they had been searching for her since 2017. With the assistance of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and Summit County Adult Protective Services, she was reunited with her family in Amarillo, Texas.

Follow up questions should be directed to Inspector William Holland at 330-620-9738.
