Nordonia Varsity Hockey Spends MLK Weekend @ The 3rd Annual Marty Kaczmarek Memorial Hockey Tournament

“Nordonia showed some upper level teams that they work well together as a team this past weekend”, said Coach Cinalli, as they won two of the three games they played. Six teams competed at the Michael Ries Rink for the 3rd annual Marty Kaczmarek Memorial Hockey Tournament. Nordonia played Westlake, Parma, and Aurora in an exciting weekend of hockey. St. Ed’s and CVCA were the other two teams who competed in the tournament, with St. Ed’s going on to play in the championship game late Monday night against the Hosting Team-Parma.

The Experienced Juniors Make Plays All Together

Nordonia-3 Westlake-1 Game 1
First goal was scored by Nordonia’s defenseman and occasional forward #21 Brett Rapp, assisted by #11Noah Vega and #24 Jacob Waite. Westlake tied up 1-1 by the end of the first period, but Nordonia showed up in the third period when Rapp scored a second goal above the circle assisted by Jacob Waite and #10 Owen Tindall, Senior #5 Daniel Kimpton steals an unassisted goal inside the crease. Senior #33 Kevin Waite with the Win and 17 saves.

Nordonia-1 Parma-5 Game 2
Nordonia wasn’t able to get much past Parma’s redmen until the third period as Junior #10 Owen Tindall caught his break by snagging a goal with 11:30 left assisted by Senior #5 Daniel Kimpton. Senior #33 Kevin Waite had 35 saves.

Nordonia-6 Aurora-5 Game 3
Goals were scored by those Juniors who seem to be on fire. “They know where each other are on the ice and the team’s passing was great during game 1 and game 3”, said coach Cinalli. But let’s not forget about those valuable seniors playing goalie and defense. Junior #11 Noah Vega gets the MVP of this game as he scored a goal off the faceoff with 6.5 seconds left in the game to surge Nordonia into the lead and the WIN! Two goals each were scored by Juniors Tindall and Waite, and one each by Rapp and Vega. Assists came from Tindall, Kimpton, Rapp, and Waite. Kevin Waite with 16 saves.
