Nordonia High School student-athlete Jensen Stehlik was recognized June 1, as a nominee for The Leadership Playbook Student-Athlete of the Year for the 2022-2023 season.
Stehlik is a student-athlete point guard for the Nordonia High School girls’ varsity basketball team who was nominated by her coach Marissa Rizzo.
As a member of the class of 2023, this nomination is an accomplishing achievement for Stehlik, her teammates, and Nordonia High School.
This award honors student-athletes who show qualities of good sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork.
The Leadership Playbook helps sports programs and teams create a strong culture by developing productive team chemistry among teammates.
This program has many online subjects to help someone develop life skills, and the ability to lead.
It includes hundreds of short videos displaying different lessons to achieve these skills.
Jamy Bechler, a former high school athletic director and college basketball coach created this curriculum.
The former coach is also known for writing five books including The Bus Trip and The Captain.
Bechler is currently the host of the podcast “Success is a Choice”. He is also a professional speaker and leadership consultant.
Mr. Bechler is excited to honor Stehlik as a nominee for this award.
“We’re thrilled to recognize Jensen as a good example of what a student-athlete should be”, said Bechler. “Great teams have great teammates and though no leader is perfect, it’s awesome to be able to recognize student-athletes trying to have a positive influence on their teammates and friends. Deserving student-athletes from across the United States were nominated by their coaches, administrators, teammates, and in some cases, even competitors from other schools.”
In Stehlik’s most recent highlight video, she had four three-pointers against Jackson High School, giving her recognition for this nomination.
Stehlik and all other nominees will obtain an award certificate with a complimentary membership to The Leadership Playbook for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.
Winners for this award were announced on June 11, 2023. The winners are displayed on Jamy Bechler’s twitter account @CoachBechler where he tweeted the results.
Jensen Stehlik was unfortunately not one of the final winners, but was still recognized as a dedicated athlete in Northeast Ohio.
