Lila Deane Miller (Nee Jackson), 78, formerly of Sagamore Hills, OH, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on Monday October 16, 2023. She was born on October 4, 1930 in Paulding Ohio to the late Frank and Vernice Jackson. She attended high school in Vaughnsville Ohio and studied music and voice (minoring in theater) at Bluffton College. Lila taught music and led the marching band at Harris-Elmore High School in Ohio. She also taught piano and voice privately to many students, some of which advanced to successful careers in music. Lila sang with the Buffalo Schola Cantorum, Akron Symphony Chorus, and Blossom Festival Chorus. She was active in Brandywine Players and other theater groups in the Akron/Cleveland area. For more than 30 years she was music director for the United Methodist Church of Macedonia and composed various choral works, performed by adult and children’s choirs. God and family were always at the center of Lila’s world. She wrote and performed music for the glory of God and would often share her love of music with her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul and Theron.
Lila is survived by husband Gerald Miller after 70 years of marriage, by her children Gregory, Joel (Jingjing) and Kevin and grandchildren Joseph Kauffman, Ellen Miller, Tracey Miller, and Grace Miller.
Memorial contributions in Lila’s name are suggested to the United Methodist Church of Macedonia. Friends may call at the FERFOLIA FUNERAL HOME 356 W. AURORA RD. (ST. RT.) SAGAMORE HILLS VISITATION SUNDAY 2-6PM. Family and friends are asked to gather Monday at the United Methodist Church of Macedonia 1280 E. Aurora Rd. Macedonia, OH for visitation from 9:00-11:00 AM. Immediately followed by Funeral Services to celebrate Lila’s life. Interment Northfield Macedonia Cemetery.
