Andrew V. Romito, age 96 of Twinsburg, Ohio passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
Andrew, known to most as Andy, was born to Victor and Amelia Romito, on March 7, 1927 in Bedford, Ohio. He was part of the Greatest Generation and served in the US Army during the Allied occupation of Germany. After his military service, Andy became a pattern maker, working for nearly 35 years as the owner of Progressive Pattern in The Flats of Cleveland.
His passion for public service led to decades serving on Bedford City Council, Twinsburg City Council, and as Mayor of Bedford. He was also an avid golfer. He enjoyed playing cards, rooting for the Guardians, and spending part of winter on the west coast of Florida. However, his greatest joy was his family.
Andy is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Ruth (nee Filips), and their three children, Lorelei Romito, Andrea Hixenbaugh (Jim), and Drew Romito (Karen). He is the grandfather to Lindsay Hixenbaugh, Paige Krol (Jeremy) and Mitchell Romito, MD (Ashley) and a great grandfather to Grayson, Annalise, and Easton. He is also survived by his sister Vivian Marshall (Harold).
Andy’s family will receive friends from 9-10 AM Saturday, February 24, 2024 at SS Cosmas & Damian Church, 10419 Ravenna Rd, Twinsburg, Ohio where Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 AM followed by a luncheon at Twinhaven Reception Hall at the church. Andy will be laid to rest privately at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
