Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro, Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich, Sheriff Kandy Fatheree, and County Councilwoman Christine Wiedie Higham, are holding an “Outsmart the Scam Workshop” on Saturday, October 19 from 10:00am-12:00pm to help residents prevent and respond to scams while learning hands-on instruction on how to safely navigate their digital devices.
“Outsmart the Scam Workshop” will take place at Tallmadge High School, 140 N Munroe Road in Tallmadge and will consist of four breakout sessions based on digital skill levels from 10:30am-11:30am.
- Beginners: “Digital Basics”
- Intermediate: “Elevate Your Digital Skills”
- Expert: “Exploring Advanced Tech”
- Parents & Guardians: “Keeping Our Kids Safe Online”
The sessions will feature digital navigators from Direction Home Akron Canton, Akron Metropolitan Housing Association, and speakers including Dr. David Licate of the University of Akron and guests from Tallmadge Police Department and the Summit County Office of Information Technology.
Following the breakout sessions, a “Hands-On Lab” will be offered from 11:30am-12:00pm for more one-on-one assistance with the digital navigators.
