A busy week for Northfield Village Police Department included multiple incidents at the MGM Casino, disorderly conduct calls, and various property crimes. Here’s a roundup of recent police activity from March 17-24.

Casino-Related Incidents

March 17 – Officers took a report of vandalism to a VLT machine at MGM Casino. The incident actually occurred in January, but the casino reported that the suspect never returned their calls. MGM management signed charges for vandalism on March 18, and the suspect was advised to turn himself in.

March 21 – At approximately 11:04 PM, officers were dispatched to the MGM Casino south parking lot for a reported fight. Security personnel had already separated the parties involved. After reviewing surveillance footage, officers determined that a physical altercation had occurred between a male and two females. All parties were issued summonses for Disorderly Conduct and advised of their court dates.

March 24 – Officers responded to MGM Casino at 4:01 AM regarding a theft. An investigation was initiated, but no further details were provided in the report.

Harassment and Identity Theft

March 17 – Officers received two separate reports related to harassment and identity theft:

  • A telecommunications harassment report was filed at a Ledge Road address after reviewing emails and statements provided by the victim.
  • A resident reported to the police station that his identity had been used to open an AT&T account. Officers initially advised the resident to verify with AT&T that the collections notices weren’t a scam. The following day, the resident confirmed via email that AT&T verified an account had been opened under his name.

Disorderly Conduct and Nuisance Issues

March 21 – Officers responded to a parking lot on Northfield Road for two males yelling at each other. After investigation, one male was voluntarily transported to the hospital.

March 22 – At 10:48 PM, officers responded to a barking dog complaint on Coventry Drive. Upon arrival, the officer heard a dog barking from the back of the residence. The homeowner was cited to appear in Stow Municipal Court.

March 24 – At approximately 6:24 PM, officers were dispatched to Circle K gas station for a disorderly intoxicated male. The man was trespassed from the property, but continued to be disorderly at his residence in the village, taking “a fighting posture towards officers.” He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest before being released to his mother with a mandatory court date.
