Father Arrested After Assaulting Son Outside Restaurant

A father-son dispute escalated into violence outside a local restaurant. A 59-year-old Hudson man was arrested after witnesses observed him striking and kicking his 35-year-old son. According to a witness, “both males were having a heated discussion at the bar” before the confrontation moved outside. Sergeant Matejka personally observed the suspect “kick the younger male in the back area of his body and strike him in the back of the head.” Despite his son’s refusal to press charges, the father was charged with domestic violence and booked into the Macedonia City Jail.
Ex-Boyfriend Breaks Into Woman’s Home Through Window

A man was arrested after allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home by climbing through a window. The victim, who had recently moved into the residence, reported awakening to strange noises and discovered her ex-boyfriend inside her home. Ring camera footage showed the suspect tampering with the security camera in the backyard before the break-in. Officers found “a small pile of dirt on top of the bedding, directly under the window” and a ladder placed outside. The suspect, who appeared heavily intoxicated, was charged with burglary (F-4), criminal damaging and endangering (M-2), and criminal mischief (M-3). Due to the suspect’s history of domestic violence and the victim’s fear of retaliation, a Temporary Protection Order was issued.
Driver Arrested for OVI After Erratic Driving on SR 8
April 27, 2025 – State Route 8 North
Deante Robert Coats, 32, of Elyria was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence after officers observed his vehicle unable to maintain its lane on State Route 8. According to Officer Quintrell, the vehicle “had blown the red light at the intersection of State Route 8 and State Route 82.” When stopped, Coats exhibited slurred speech, dilated pupils, and failed multiple field sobriety tests. When asked where he was, Coats incorrectly stated he was in Elyria rather than Macedonia. A breathalyzer test revealed a BAC of 0.195, more than twice the legal limit. Coats was charged with multiple violations including OVI and failure to drive in marked lanes.
Springfield Man Found with Suspected Cocaine Residue During Traffic Stop
April 26, 2025 – SR 82 at N. Freeway Dr.
Daniel L. Billingsley, 34, of Springfield, Ohio was detained during a traffic stop related to a domestic violence incident in Sagamore Hills. During the vehicle inventory, officers discovered “a folded up piece of paper in the driver side door pocket” containing grey powder. After being read his Miranda rights, Billingsley “initially stated it was left over residue from marijuana dabs” but later “admitted it was scraped out cocaine residue from his pipe.” The substance was sent to BCI for analysis with charges pending the results. Billingsley was cited for driving with multiple suspensions and transferred to Sagamore Hills Police for their domestic violence investigation.

Macedonia Officers Help Subdue Disorderly Subject at Casino
April 26, 2025 – MGM Casino, 10777 Northfield Rd.
Macedonia Police responded to the MGM Casino to assist Northfield Village Police with a disorderly subject. Officers found Kyle Christensen, 24, actively resisting officers from Sagamore Hills who were attempting to place him in a police cruiser. According to Officer Lockwood, the subject “was pushing with his feet to stay out of the cruiser” and later “trying to pick his head up to either get up or bite at the paramedic’s hands and face.” Officers employed control techniques to safely restrain Christensen until paramedics could place him in soft restraints and transport him to the hospital.
Woman in Mental Health Crisis Located at Chili’s Restaurant

Officers responded to assist Garfield Heights Police in locating Sarah Stratton, 33, who had left her residence following an argument with her husband. Stratton’s vehicle was identified by Flock cameras in Macedonia Commons. Officers located her at Chili’s restaurant, where she told officers “she was having a hard time because her husband didn’t believe she was Jesus Christ.” After speaking with officers, Stratton agreed to go to the hospital for mental health evaluation and was transported to Marymount Hospital with a pink slip completed by Officer Lockwood.

Identity Fraud Victim Reports Fraudulent Credit Card and Vehicle Repossession
April 23, 2025
Laurence Strimple, 65, reported discovering his 2015 Chevy 2500 HD pickup truck missing from his driveway. Upon investigation, he learned the vehicle had been repossessed as collateral for a Yendo credit card. Strimple stated “he has never opened a Yendo account and has never given anyone permission to open an account in his name.” A representative from Yendo advised that once they receive a police report, their fraud department would investigate the matter.
Prepaid Visa Card Found in Resident’s Driveway
April 27, 2025
Martin Scott Shafer flagged down Officer Clapper in the police station parking lot to turn in a OnePay debit Visa card he found in his driveway. The officer “attempted to locate the owner of the card but was unable because the card does not have a name on it.” The card was entered into evidence as found property and is being held at the Macedonia Police Station for the owner to claim.

Walton Hills Police Assisted with Fingerprint Identification
April 22, 2025 – 7500 Northfield Rd., Walton Hills
Macedonia Police provided assistance to Walton Hills and Oakwood Police with their fingerprint scanner to help identify multiple subjects during a traffic stop. One male subject was positively identified as Ricardo Sanchez through the Ohio database, while identification of other subjects was unsuccessful.
