Hoban controls non-conference matchup in Macedonia
Archbishop Hoban’s soccer team delivered a commanding performance Saturday afternoon, defeating the Nordonia Knights 7-1 in a non-conference match at Macedonia.
Hoban controlled the game from the opening whistle, building a 6-0 halftime lead before adding another goal in the second half. The Knights managed just one goal in the final period to prevent a shutout.
The loss dropped Nordonia’s record to 4-5 on the season, while Archbishop Hoban improved to 4-5-1 overall. Hoban has now scored 27 goals in nine games this season, averaging three goals per contest.
Saturday’s match marked the second meeting between these Summit County rivals, with Hoban holding a 1-0 advantage in the head-to-head series.
Both teams had previously faced Barberton this season, with Hoban falling 2-1 on Aug. 30 and the Knights losing 5-1 on Sept. 6.
The Knights will look to bounce back when they travel to Twinsburg on Monday.
