Robert J. Mastrobuono, Jr., age 86 of Brecksville passed away Friday, October 3, 2025. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Robert and Nellie (Bocchieri) Mastrobuono. He is survived by his beloved wife Carol (Blackburn) Mastrobuono; three loving children, Steven Mastrobuono, Anne Marie (Scott) Zimmerman and John (Jenise) Mastrobuono; seven cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Allison (Tyler), Nicholas, Angela, Katerina, Anthony and Isabella; two great-grandchildren, Jordy and Bodhi and three dear sisters, Rosemarie Bevere, Jo Anne Kristynik and Carol Redlinger.
After graduating from Shaw High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He was assigned to the 757th Airlift Squadron in Youngstown as a mechanic, and ultimately became crew chief with men reporting to him. They serviced the aircraft, ensuring they were properly fueled, the payloads were within correct weight ranges and evenly distributed, and performed all pre-flight inspections. Eventually, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant, rising in the ranks from an enlisted man to non-commissioned officer. Bob was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for performance of duties while serving in a staff position, which is a very prestigious commendation. He also received the National Defense Service Medal.
Bob attended Fenn College and studied drafting. He had a successful career as Draftsman, Designer and Manager at construction companies in Cleveland and Waukesha, WI, including Symons and Great Lakes.
Bob had an extensive model car collection, enjoyed making his yard beautiful, was an avid Indians fan, and very talented at fixing just about anything. His grandkids talk about the delicious blueberry pancakes he would make on Saturday morning, the silly sayings that made them laugh and his ability to remember the tiniest detail of things and people from long ago.
Bob enjoyed helping those who needed it. He was a member of Brecksville Kiwanis for several years and particularly enjoyed filling and delivering Easter Baskets and Christmas gifts to under served children in the County. For 15 years he volunteered as a van driver in Brecksville to take seniors to appointments and shopping. Bob developed warm friendships with many who rode with him regularly.
Bob loved his family and extended family, and was happiest when he was surrounded by his many cousins, aunts and uncles. He was an awesome man of faith who loved God and His Word. We will miss him so very much.
