Executive Shapiro announces adoption discount for “Dog Days of Summer” at Animal Control

SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO—The Dog Days of Summer are in full swing in Summit County, and so is the search for cool, loving homes for the dogs at Summit County Animal Control. To help our dogs and humans find some sweet relief during these sweltering 90 degree days, Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro is lowering dog adoption fees for a special July adoption promotion.

Now through July 31, adoption fees will be reduced to $28 (regularly $94). All dogs are microchipped, fully vetted (including bloodwork, flea treatments, intestinal de-worming, spay or neuter, and vaccinations), and ready to be taken home. All new dog parents will also receive a 2026 Summit County Dog License included in the adoption fee, as well as a free collar and leash at no extra cost.

Residents can call 330-643-2845 to schedule an appointment or visit the facility during business hours. To browse pictures of adoptable pets, visit Summit County Animal Control’s Facebook or our website.
