Obituary: Carol Helene Oudeman “Aunt Tuff”

Carol Helene Oudeman “Aunt Tuff”, age 94, of Northfield, Ohio passed away Friday, July 3, 2026. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Henry Bernard and Helene Emily (nee Ernst) Oudeman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her dear sister, Shirley Jean (Oswald) Kachler and brother, Alan Oudeman.

She is the beloved aunt of Kurt (Michelle) Kachler and Amy (the late Michael) Marsalko; cherished great-aunt of Bethany (Shaun) Soeder and Jon Oswald Kachler; and loving great-great aunt of Kai, Balin, and Abel Soeder.

Carol was a proud nurse, serving as the director of nursing for Cleveland Metro Hospital, director of the Cleveland Metro Hospital nursing school and director of the Parma Hospital nursing school. After her retirement, she loved spending time watching wildlife and nature at her cabin on Pleasant Hill Lake. She always enjoyed chocolate, especially Reese’s anything. Despite being affectionately known as Aunt Tuff, she cherished and supported nieces and nephews throughout her life.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at the Busch-Romito Funeral Home, 99 West Aurora Road (Route 82, one mile west of Route 8), Northfield Center, Ohio (330) 468-1443. A graveside service will follow at North Royalton Cemetery. www.buschcares.com
